Interview Tips - What to do the day before
By following the 6 steps discussed below, will guarantee success in a job interview:
1) Research the Company:
This is a very important step as we should gather information and understand relevant information about the organization which you are attending. Understanding Company Vision, Mission, and Objectives are very important and this shows that you are genuinely interested in the organization to the interviewer. Go through the company website to understand the company products and services. A couple of hours of research on the company is the first good step towards interview preparation. This will help in answering the job interview questions effectively and will also help in asking relevant and appropriate questions to the interviewer.
2) Prepare Professional Resume:
The second most important thing is to prepare a good resume for the Interview. There are many templates available on the internet or you can check out Canva for a professional-looking Resume. Once you have created a professional resume, go through your resume to familiarize yourself with the information. Make sure you mention all the relevant information with respect to the job for which you are applying.
3) Interview Question Tips:
- Tell Me About Yourself
- What are your Strengths?
- What is your weakness?
- Why should we hire you?
- How do you handle team conflicts?
4) Organize & Carry Interview Documents:
Documents are very necessary when you attend any interview such as Resume, Educational Certificates, Work Experience Letters, and other important certificates. Always carry 3 sets of resumes before attending any interview as you might need them in different stages, in addition, include copies of the cover letter also. Include a notebook and pen, sometimes you will be given some case study or simples problems to solve - keeping a notebook and pen will help. All these things have to be organized in a proper file as it will help in other interviews if you are attending in the future.
5) Know exactly the Interview Location:
Knowing the interview location is very important. If you prepare well and arrive late to the interview then the first impression will not be good. Always make sure where you are going for the interview, how far is the location from your place, and how long it will take to reach the interview location. Call the company and ask for all the details of direction to reach for the interview location and also know whom to contact at the interview location.
One should always make sure that they reach 10 minutes early to the interview location and have some time to settle down. If the company is big with multiple buildings and entrances then you should know to get to the venue directly once you enter the company. Also, you should have the interviewer's contact number - in the worst case if you are stuck in traffic, call and inform the interviewer that you will be reaching late.
6) Don't Be Anxious:
Anxiety on the interview day is most common, there are certain things that can be done before the interview which are - take a deep breath, listen to relaxing music, keep your body moving - going for a 10-minute walk will always help. Remember the most important thing - "THIS IS NOT AN END". If anything goes wrong then remember that it is not the end. There are always one or the other opportunities in life, learn from the mistakes and never repeat them. You will be successful if you understand your mistakes and learn from them.
