What Are Signages
Why Are Signages Important
- These are an ideal way of communicating with customers as they inform, educate and instruct customers.
- Customers associate signages with the store design
- For chain stores like ours, standard signage designs give customers a sense of familiarity with the store

* Guidelines for signages
* Signage placement
* Signage requisition
* Timely display and removal of signages
* VM fixtures management
* Re-ordering of the fixtures
* Training of team leaders on handling the fixtures
* Mannequins in the store

Standardization Of Signages
All the retail stores must print and install the standard set of Store signage :
- The signages are printed on standard signage paper with the logo/design
- The design is provided by HO
- Sourcing/ordering is done at the zones through registered vendors with whom rates have been negotiated
Guidelines For Signages
Important points to be kept in mind where text on the signage is concerned Offers/promotions
- Must stand out prominently
- Not be cluttered
- Have information that is accurate and relevant
- The product's name must be written in full along with size/measurement/ capacity clearly mentioned
- Product name’s spellings must be checked to ensure accuracy
Signage Placement
Multiple offers need to be displayed on a single fixture and print two offers on one page only. Regional languages to be used wherever possible. All similar signages on the floor must be at the same level of elevation. Proper fixtures must be used for installing/fixing signage. Signages must be fixed at the correct locations. A3/A4 signages must not be used on wall units.A3 signages must be used on floor stacks or in promo areas only
Posters must not be stuck on:
- Walls
- Pillars
- Tables
In case there is a temporary requirement to display signage on any wall:
- The store head’s approval is required
- A-frame holder must be used
- Sticking tapes or cello tapes are not allowed
Double-sided tapes must not be used on pillars, walls, or fixtures. The paint or wall gets chipped when the tape is pulled off leaving the adhesive behind that attracts dust.
Signage fixtures must undergo extensive cleaning quarterly
Signage Requisition
Department Manager (DM)/team leader (TL) and their teams are responsible for printing signage and all signages have a standard template that must be followed.
The TL ensures that the correct information is provided to the DM/store visual merchandiser (VM). This includes the: Content of the signage and the type of signage required (this depends on the fixture where it needs to be installed). TL will request DM and the VM to approve the signage requirement
Once approved, the team leader (TL) must: Enter the requisition in the signage requisition register and print the signage in the specified format for installation on the respective items.
The cluster visual merchandiser (VM) is responsible for training the signage makers (the department managers and the team leaders)

For special promotions where extra fixtures are required: The fixtures must be ordered well in advance and they must reach the store a week before the start of the promotion
