One should always know what to do when you arrive at the company for the job interview. Remember to present yourself positively and professionally in each and every step of the interview process, this will impress the interviewer. Your interview begins the moment you enter the interview location so act professionally, someone may be observing you. So behave in a professional attitude at all times. The below 4 steps will help you to deal with this issue -

1) Switch off or Keep the Mobile in Silent mode:

The moment you enter the interview location - switch off your mobile. You should be actively focusing on the interview process and make sure you are not interrupted by any calls or messages. Checking or getting involved in your phone while you wait for an interview is poor job etiquette, it gives an impression of lack of interest. 

2) Greet the Receptionist Proactively:

Always greet the receptionist politely and confidently when you introduce yourself at the interview location. Tell the receptionist that why you are here and ask for the interviewer's name. Arrive at least ten mins early to the interview location and gain some useful information about the interview, this will set a positive impression on you. Also, complete the formalities like filling the forms for the interview process, make sure you enter correct information and complete the process. Many times interviewers may ask their assistants for an opinion of the candidate, so we have to behave well at all times in the interview process.

3) Greet the Interviewer:

Greeting the interviewer properly will be the first impression you make at the interview. So the way you greet will matter a lot. You should greet all the panel members - greet everyone before you are told to take a seat, give a firm handshake with the following line, "I am pleased to meet you, Sir". Wait for the interviewer to give you the signal to sit down.

4) Sit Properly during the Interview:

Sitting up straight will give the impression that you are confident, so don't lean and sit. If you have a table in front of you, keep the document folder on the table or keep it on your lap. If there is no table then think twice before accepting the offer of something to drink, if you accept then you will have to balance the cup or glass throughout the interview process.
